Highlighting women's role and human rights, the Local Government Unit of Piagapo joined the whole nation in this year’s observance of the National Women’s Month through holding a women’s gathering held on March 20.
Dr. Monaima A. Adiong, former Gender and Development (GAD) Head and Assistant Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer of the provincial government of Lanao del Sur served as a Resource Speaker in the gathering and have lectured on The Magna Carta of Women embodied in the Republic Act No. 9710.
With this year’s theme “WE for gender equality & inclusive society”, Vice Mayor Norombae M. Sumandar who rendered an opening remarks tackled role of women in building communities that are mostly lead by men. Local Rural Health Unit Physician Dr. Rasmia Lawi and MSWDO Sarifa L. Dalan also inspired the women in attendance through their speeches focused on women empowerment. While Radapan Poblacion Punong Barangay Zolaica Campong delivered a sermon involving rights of women in Islamic perspective.
At the end of the program, the local GAD staff held a raffle of exciting prizes which spiced the celebration. #WEforgenderequality&inclusivesociety
